One day in Heaven
When we started our "multisolidarity" project we asked our donors to "give as a present one meter of Heaven" to build our JNM Children’s Village.
As in March 2005 the "JNM Children’s Village" and the Emergency Center were completed and ready to be operational, we now have changed the name of our project into "give as a present one day in Heaven"
The JNM Children’s Village is our base, in the city of Adwa , in the northern region of Ethiopia , and it hosts the abandoned orphans of the area. The main objectives of the Village are: to give a home to the orphans , and to run the Emergency Center , dedicated to severely malnourished and dehydrated children.
Why we call the Village and the Emergency Centre "Heaven"?
. it is really heaven, having a house to shelter, no more sleeping in the street, in the cold, new clothes and new shoes, water, soap and electricity to light up the darkness of the nights and keep the fear away .
. it is really heaven, having every day your own food, without having to look for it, as your main aim, during the day .
. it is really heaven, that wall, around the Village, that leaves out wild dogs and hyenas .
. it is really heaven, to go to school all together .
. it is really heaven, having someone who waits for you at home, with a hot meal, and brothers and sisters to play with .
. it is really heaven, having Francesco and Nevia, the "parents" you never had .
